

Pastor Cecil B. Shrader, Jr. 77, of Lakeland Park, Bluefield went home to glory Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born November 29,1940 in Princeton, he was the son of the late Cecil B. Shrader Sr. and Mildred Cassell Shrader. Cecil was a retired coal miner having retired from Consolidated Coal at Amonate Mines with 25 years of Service, and a member of the UMWA. Pastor Cecil was called to the ministry, starting with the Speedway Christian Church, then the Mt. Pisgah Community Church in Speedway. Pastor Cecil then moved to Princeton where he founded the Princeton Praise & Worship Center on Thorn Street in Princeton. Pastor Cecil loved serving the Lord, he especially loved and cherished the people that sat under this preaching. Nothing brought anymore joy to Pastor Cecil’s heart, then leading someone to the Lord and then the honor of baptizing. His family, church family and close friends are rejoicing, knowing that Pastor Cecil heard the words of his Lord and Savior, “Well done thy good and faithful servant, welcome home”. Cecil also served for 10 years as a midget football coach, having coached the Princeton Bank & Trust football team. Cecil was also an outstanding softball player having played both the independent league as well as the church league. In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by his first wife, G. Sue Hall Shrader, his second wife, Virginia Irene “Jenny” Shrader, along with all of his brothers and sisters. He was the last surviving member of his family. Survivor include his 8 children, 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces and nephews. A service of celebration will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 2, 2018 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Johnny Gray, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family Friday from 6 until 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The Shrader family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
