
TWIN BRANCH – Wrapped in the arms of an angel, Kathleen “Kat” Hammonds, age 100, of Twin Branch, WV, was carried to her heavenly home on September 18, 2010. She died peacefully at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Jonnie and Lloyd Cook of Twin Branch.
Born August 1, 1910 in Briceville, TN, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Rose McGhee Wood. She graduated from Hazard High School, Hazard, KY in 1929. She had been a resident of Twin Branch since 1951 when she moved there from Kentucky. Kat was of the Protestant faith, an avid flower gardener, crafter, and an excellent seamstress.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Creed, her husband of sixty-four years, a daughter Annette Perry, two sons, Julian and Phillip, a sister, Barbara Norris, and two brothers, Ralph and Johnny Wood.
Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory and to thank God for being blessed by having her in their lives are daughters Diane and Charles Gore, Lakeland FL, Lloyd and Jonnie Cook, Twin Branch, WV, sister Jean Johnson, Englewood, OH, daughter-in-law Mary Hammonds, Fairborn, OH, granddaughters Robyn Tolle, Gulf Shores, AL, Tena and Stewart Weltz, Lakeland FL, Denise Armstrong, Lakeland Fl, Suzanne Perry, New Carlisle, OH, Laurie and Michael Jackson, Dayton, OH, Kitty and Michael Shepherd, New Carlisle, OH, great-grandsons, Brandon and Alyssa Tolle, Tallahassee, FL, Cody Armstrong and Tyler Weltz, Lakeland, FL, and Blake Shepherd, New Carlisle, OH, and great-granddaughters Sarah Tolle, Tallahassee, FL, Tricia Weltz, Lakeland, FL and Rachel Shepherd, New Carlisle, OH and special caregivers Linda Kelly and Juanita Bishop.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Evangelist Mary Hammonds officiating. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 until the hour of service.
