

Howard Thomas (Tom) King, of Princeton, West Virginia, passed away Monday, February 22, 2010. He was a native and long time resident of Maybeury in McDowell County West Virginia. He was the owner of K & K Television in Northfork for many years and was a pioneer television cable operator in southern West Virginia. He was active in a variety of community and social organizations before retiring in 1983. During his retirement, Tom and his wife Madeleine traveled extensively by motor home throughout Central and North America and were seasonal residents at Pipestem State Park in Lerona and Richwood Country Club Campground in Bluefield, VA. Tom was a resident of Clearwater, Florida and returned to the Bluefield area after the death of his wife in 2005.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter W. and Lillie Roope King; his wife of 58 years, Madeleine Pike King; sister, Hazel Slate; brothers, W.W. “Buddy” King and C.B. “Ike” King.
Survivors include Scott King, Charleston WV; Bill and Sue King, Roanoke VA; Terry and Sylvia King, Clearwater FL; Robin and Jim DeLapp, Albuquerque NM; and Casey King, Myrtle Beach. Additional survivors include sisters Mary Helen Dill, Clearwater FL and Margaret Shores, Aberdeen MD, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, daughter-in-laws Lois Jessee and Lynn King, and special friends of the family, Rachel Remines and Marsha McFarland.
In lieu of floral tributes, donations may be made to the Elkhorn HS Alumni Scholarship Fund, C/O Gloria Zucchet, 700 Fort Branch Road, Pearisburg, VA 25134.
The family will receive visitors at the Roselawn Cemetery Chapel, 450 Courthouse Road, Princeton, at Noon Thursday, February 25. A memorial service will follow at 1 PM with Reverend Joe Copolo officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
