

Andy was born in Prineville, Oregon on June 2, 1929 to Emily Vandale and Andrew L. Bernard Sr. Most of his life was spent on the family ranch in Suplee, Oregon. On February 22, 1954, Andy married Archelene (Archie) Halsey and together they raised two children.
The U.S. Army took Andy away from home in 1954 – 1956; he was stationed at Hanford, Washington as a gunner. Andy was involved with the Paulina community, and he helped found the Paulina Rodeo. He was a life-time charter member of the Prineville Elks Lodge and a member of the Crook County Historical Society, the American Legion, and the Eagles.
In 2001, Andy lost his wife Archie and retired from the ranch life. He married Clara Green on October 25, 2003, and he spent the rest of his life living in Prineville surrounded by a loving family.
Andy is survived by his wife Clara, son Mike Bernard and wife Sherry, daughter Margaret Hedges and husband Chuck, daughter Sherry Williams and husband Billy, daughter Janie Hibbert and husband Donny, daughter Zeb Jacobson and husband Ken, son Rocky Bernard and wife Gayle, daughter Rene Helms and husband Dennis, son Tuck Bernard and wife Tracy, two step-sons Robert Wells and Justin Marshall, and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Helen; brothers Art, Lawrence, Robert, and Gene; and his wife Archelene.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Prineville Hospice, the Crook County Historical Society, or the charity of your choice.
