Bill was born in Warroad, Minnesota on August 24, 1931 to Frank and Esther (Sandness) Reid. We grew up in Warroad, where he attended and graduated from Warroad High School with the class of 1949.
Bill was drafted into the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War.
After his military service, he married Betty Hiaasen in Canyon City, Oregon on February 16, 1964. They made their home in Prineville.
Bill worked in the lumber industry as a log truck driver and later at American Pine-Coin Millwork for 35+ years until his retirement.
He loved the outdoors, especially deer and elk hunting, and fishing. Bill volunteered as a driver for the mini bus after his retirement, to help “the older people” get around. Husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, he will be missed.
Bill is survived by his wife of 49 years; Betty Reid of Prineville. Eight children: sons, Robert and Wally Reid both of Prineville, Danny Scott of Bend, Oregon, Ken Roberts of Medford. Daughters: Jennifer Wood & her husband Tim of Tacoma, Washington, Kathi Swift & her husband Joel of Boise, Idaho, Debra Hill of Portland, Oregon, and Sandy Knight of Redmond, Oregon. He is also survived by a brother; Robert Reid of Germany, and a sister Ethel Jordan of Lake Oswego, Oregon. He has seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Bill was proceeded in death by his parents and one sister, Viola.
