

Alfred A. “Fred” Lanni, 82, of Providence, passed away on November 21, 2017. Alfred was the beloved husband of Shirley A. (Christopher) Lanni for 60 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late John and Josephine (Marone) Lanni. He lived in Providence all his life.
He was a member of Teamsters Local 251 and was a truck driver for Tilcon Gammino for 40 years retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Teamsters Retirees. He was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. He was a man that would, and did, do anything for his family.
Alfred is survived by his loving children Gail Lombardi and her husband Nick, and Lynn Torngren and her husband Brett, all of North Providence. The cherished grandfather of Stefanie Lombardi and Nicole Lombardi Silva and her husband Bryan. He was the great-grandfather of Bryan Silva. He was also the brother of Robert Lanni, Josephine Lanni, Irene Reeves, Flora Paul, Shirley Pisano, Marguerite Catanzaro and the late Arnold, Anthony, John, William and Anne Marie Lanni, Rose Pezzillo, Julie DiCilio, Susan Santucci, and Emma Baccarri. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Sunday, 4-7 p.m. with his funeral service on Monday at 9 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence, followed by burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association of the Northeast, 260 W Exchange Street, Suite 102B, Providence, RI 02903.
