

Providcnce: Atamian, Araxi, (Mardirossian), 95, of Fallon Ave died Friday at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the wife of the late Minas Atamian, mother of the late James Atamian and grandmother of the late Patricia Nelson. Born in Turkey, she was a daughter of the late Mardiros and Varter Mardirossian. She traveled to France, where all her children were born, then came to America. She is survived by her children, Jacqueline Rose and her husband Leonard, George Atamian and his wife Dolores, Robert Atamian and his wife Mary, Janine Colavita and her husband Henry and daughter-in-law Mary Atamian. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren. Araxi was skilled in the arts of cross stitch and crochet and over the years made thousands of wall hangings and afghans, many of which she donated to the church. She often said how proud she was that her afghans were in homes all over the world. Her funeral will be Tuesday at 10:00am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith St. Providence. Services at 11:00am in STS. Vartanantz Armenian Church, Broadway, Providence. Burial will be in North Burial Ground, Providence.Visiting hours, Monday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to STS.
