We are sadly mourning the passing of our dear friend Arlene Rosenberg, who, after losing a leg to a pedestrian traffic accident, worked with unwavering perseverance, tenacity and courage to retain, to the degree possible, her original quality of life. In the 5 ensuing years, Arlene remained independent and was out and about New York City while working toward her goal of again walking unassisted.
Arlene grew up in Providence, Rhode Island and graduated from Hunter College, New York City with a Master’s in Education and quickly became a real New Yorker. She loved and took advantage of NYC’s culture through membership in Jazz at Lincoln Center and as a frequent attendee of Ballet, Dance, Theatre and Concerts. When not enjoying the arts or patronizing the city’s many storied restaurants, Arlene gave back to the community by volunteering at Dorot and other charitable organizations.
Earlier in life Arlene was an engaging educator known for developing and teaching individualized classroom strategies for the Teaneck, New Jersey, Board of Education and later became a consultant for SRA/McGraw Hill, as well as served as a Staff Developer in word processing for the business community.
Her reputation for going above and beyond expectations earned her the respect of colleagues, students, corporate associates and friends alike.
Arlene loved to travel and planned to the nth degree every detail of her trips. For those of us who traveled on our own or with her she became an enormous resource and made every trip more exciting and memorable.
Arlene was exceptionally loyal and caring to both family and friends.
We deeply mourn her loss and will hold her Zest for Life in our memory.
A Graveside Burial was held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Lincoln Park Cemetery, Warwick, RI.
Contributions in Memory of Arlene can be made to: Dorotusa.org, Stjude.org, or any health related charity of your choice.
A Celebration of Arlene’s life will be held October 7th, 2021 in NYC at a location to be determined.
Arrangements are in the care of Sugarman-Sinai Memorial Chapel, Providence, RI.
