

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Catherine ( Reilly ) Cohen.
Barbara became the first female RI State Marshall in the mid 1970’s. She later went on to drive a school bus for the City of Cranston and was the president of the union for the drivers. She liked to sew and crafted beautiful quilts. Her passion was her family whom she loved dearly, but most of all was caretaker to her husband Bob for more than 30 years prior to his passing.
Barbara is survived by her son Paul J. Lawton and his wife Michele of Ewing, NJ, her two daughters, Beth Anne Lawton-Sailer and her partner Neel Southwick of Cranston, Robin Larocque of Cranston, her grandchildren, Christopher Lawton, Katie-Marie Camp, Melonie DiMartino, Alexander Miguel, Alyssa Miguel, Zachary Sailer, Harrison Sailer, Gabrielle Lawton, Carly Sailer, 7 Great grandchildren and her son in law Manuel Miguel. Barbara also leaves behind her beloved dog Buddy who was a great companion to her especially after Bob’s passing.
Mrs. Lawton was mother of the late Barbara Lawton-Miguel and sister of the late William Reilly.
Funeral from the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home will be Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 8:30 am, 331 Smith Street, Providence followed by a 10:00 am Service in All Saints Memorial Church, 674 Westminster Street, Providence. Burial will take place in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnston.
Family and friends may call Friday from 4:00-7:00 pm in the Funeral Home.
