

Millville, Massachusetts Captain Joseph D. Vinacco "Doc Vinac", 46, of Millville, a veteran member of the Providence Fire Department, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at home surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was the beloved husband of Erin P. (Mullaly) Vinacco for the past sixteen years. In addition to his wife Erin, he leaves four children, twins Nicholas A. Vinacco, and Julia A. Vinacco, Amanda K. Vinacco, Lucas J.G. Vinacco and all of his beloved brothers and sisters from the Providence Fire Department. Born in Providence, raised in Cranston, he was a son of Viola R. (Valante) Vinacco and the late Anthony Vinacco. He also leaves his two brothers, Anthony and Matthew Vinacco and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews from both the Vinacco and Mullaly families. During Joe's time off he loved spending time with his family. Joe's wife, and children were his world. He also had a love for Disney and traveling. Most recently the family enjoyed a trip to Hawaii where Joe and Erin renewed their vows on a beach in Maui surrounded by their children and his mother in law. Joe was appointed to the Providence Fire Department in March of 2001, and served nearly his entire fifteen year career at the Branch Avenue Station, assigned to Rescue 3. During his tenure, Joe was recognized several times for saving the lives of others, including members of the public and the department. He is a member of the International Association of Firefighters, Local 799, Providence Permanent Fireman's Relief Association, National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians and the Knights of Columbus. Joe also served 8 years as an Army Medic for the RI Army National Guard, honorably discharged in 2001. On Monday afternoon, at 3:00 pm, there will be a Providence Fire Department walk through to pay respects to Joe and the Vinacco family. Visiting hours will follow from 4:00 - 8:00 pm in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. The funeral will be held Tuesday, at 9:30 am, from Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in the Cathedral of SS. Peter & Paul, One Cathedral Square, Providence. Burial will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Granite Street, Uxbridge, Massachusetts.
