

Christopher M. Nocera, 61 of Providence, passed away on July 16, 2015 at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Erin W. (Scanlan) Nocera. They were married for 27 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of Rosalie (Davis) Nocera and the late Amato Nocera. Christopher attended grammar school at Our Lady of Lourdes School, was a graduate of LaSalle Academy, and attended Our Lady of Providence Seminary. He worked as the Director of Communications and Training at the Providence Water Supply Board for the past four years. Christopher was a lifelong communicant of Saint Pius V Church and was active in youth ministry. He was the President of the Boston Catholic Cemetery Association, member of the Pelican Club, member of the Providence Human Relations Commission, and lifelong resident of the 5th Ward, where he was a member of the Ward Committee. Chris was former Chief of Staff to Mayor Vincent A. “Buddy” Cianci and was a campaign manager for Patrick Kennedy. Besides his wife, he leaves his six beloved children, James J., Terrin M., Molly R., Amy E., Christiana P., and Christopher “Joseph” Nocera, all of Providence; six brothers, Joseph Nocera, of NY, Lawrence Nocera, of FL, Dominic Nocera, of N. Providence, Mark Nocera, of MA, Paul Nocera, of NY, and Richard Nocera, of Providence; and two sisters, Rosemary Williams, of N. Smithfield and Rosalie Kern, of Providence. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 8:15 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, in Saint Pius V Church, Eaton Street, Providence. Interment will be private. Visiting hours, Tuesday, July 21, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
