

Born in South Kingstown, he was the son of the late Edwin C. Whitford Sr. and Jean (Stanton) Dawson.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army as part of the artillery division.
Throughout his life, Clifford worked in diverse roles, including on an offshore oil rig and as a cook. He had a deep love for the outdoors and was happiest surrounded by nature. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, landscaping, attending car shows, admiring motorcycles, and going to carnivals. He had a special fondness for animals and cherished every moment spent with his family and friends.
He is survived by his children Sherri Dawson (John Kielczewski), James Dawson, Rachel Gilmore, Devin Giles, Chris Smith, Marissa Borst, Nicole Stevens, Joe Stevens, Rhonda Bast, and Walter Marin; 22 grandchildren; siblings Jeff Dawson, Debbie Woodard, and Phyllis Oatley; several nieces and nephews; and his longtime best friend, Sharon Bast. He was predeceased by his siblings Nancy Quinn, Joanne Pimentel, and Lori Lewis. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
His funeral and burial will be private.
Though his journey on earth has ended, his love and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
