Darlene Marie Brown

Darlene M. Brown, 56, of Providence, passed away on Thursday morning, August 15, 2013 at the Miriam Hospital, in Providence. Darlene was the beloved daughter of the late Annie M. Brown.Born in Providence, RI,she resided in the Smith Hill Community for many years. She worked as mail handler for the United States Postal Service at the Providence Central Post Office for 28 years. An avid fan of WNBA, she also enjoyed traveling, cooking, bowling, visiting and planning family gatherings.She leaves her four siblings, Lorraine M. Brown, David B. Brown, Karl D. Brown, all of Providence, and Vanessa M. Brown, of Washington, DC; her "special sisters", Kerri McAteer, Susan Montgrain, Patti Romeo, Sharon Shepard, Christine G. Brown and Dhana Whiting;supportive friend, Cooliage Hamlett; best friend and devoted confidante, Mary Hamlett; "special daughters", Melissa (Mike, Madison/Matthieu), Cassie,and Mykel; three nephews, Tywon (Tonya), Jervon (Tasha),and Jarred Brown; grand nephews, Dymell, Xavior, Jervon and grand niece, Meelah; along with a host of loving family and friends. Darlene's funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 8:30 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am, in Mount Hope Community Baptist Church, 734 Hope Street, Providence. Committal prayers will follow in the Redwood Chapel of the Swan Point Cemetery, Blackstone Boulevard, Providence. Interment will be private.
