

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Filomena (Pontarelli) and Ernest Angelo.
He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Mary (Celona) Angelo; loving father to Alisa Sanderson (Scott) and Anita Hoag (Michael); and the adoring grandfather to Alec, Kayla, and Kyle Sanderson, and Andrew and Katharine Hoag.
David served in the United States Army and later owned and operated a textile mill for many years.
He was an active member of the Italo American Club, Sons of Italy, the Italian American Historical Society of Rhode Island, the Holy Name Society, and the Kirkbrae Country Club. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and was an honorary black belt.
David’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, who managed his care in his final days; as well as to Susan Gershkoff, Mary’s siblings, and David’s first cousins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the Pontarelli Marino Home, 971 Branch Ave., Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Anthony’s Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. Entombment to follow in the SS. Peter and Paul Mausoleum in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
