

Deborah Marie (Sklover) McGarry, who died in Coventry, RI on August 25 , 2016, after a long illness, was born in Worcester, MA on June 3, 1923, the daughter, and third child, of Helen C. and Louis Sklover. She attended St. James Grammar and High School in Salem, MA, studying business for an additional year.On July 12, 1947, she married the late Frank T. McGarry and moved to Rhode Island, where she spent the remainder of her life. Mother to Jean McGarry, Thomas McGarry, Mary Caparco, and Deborah Arrin, she was grandmother to Elizabeth Arrin Janczyk, Lauren Caparco Taft, Sarah Arrin Cuneo, and John-APaul Caparco. She made her home for the last ten years with daughter Mary. She was a sister to the late Isabel Martin and Dorothy Merrill, and motherAinAlaw to Frank Caparco, Ronald Arrin, and Connie McGarry. Longtime resident of Providence and parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church, she later moved to Coventry with her husband, and was a communicant of Sts. John & Paul Church. She enjoyed a long career in the treasurer's office of The Providence Journal. After retirement, she was an avid gardener, golfer, reader, and grandmother. At the age of 66, she scored a hole in one. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 10:00am at Sts. John and Paul Church, 341 South Main Street, Coventry. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road (Route 117), Warwick, RI 02886.
