
CoventryDennis J. Mahoney, 88, of Flat River Road, died Monday at Kent County Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Mildred M. (Burns) Mahoney, the love of his life. They had been married for sixty-one years.Born in Chicopee, Massachusetts, a son of the late Dennis F. and Mary (Noonan) Mahoney, he had lived in Coventry for the past sixty years. Mr. Mahoney was a transportation specialist at the Quonset Point Naval Air Station for many years before retiring. He was a Navy Veteran of WW II and served with the U.S. Navy 71st Battalion Seabees Unit. He was an avid fisherman, especially in the Jerusalem and East Matunuck areas of South County. Beside his wife Mildred, he leaves a son, Timothy P. Mahoney of Narragansett, two grandchildren, Robin Fiske and William Fiske, and a great-grandson, Ryan Fiske. He was the father of the late Kathleen D. Fiske and Dennis M. Mahoney. The funeral service will be held Friday, at 9:00 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rt.117) Warwick, to which relatives and friends are invited. Burial, with military honors, will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations to Meals on Wheels, 70 Bath Street, Providence, RI 02908 in his memory will be appreciated.
