

CRANSTON - LANG, Diane C. (Courtemanche), died Sunday at R.I. Hospital after a long and valiant effort to overcome serious illness. Surrounded by her family and with her husband at her side, Diane passed peacefully; she was 58 years old. She was the beloved wife and soul mate of Gregory J. Lang. Diane was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Besides her husband of 30 years, she leaves their four daughters, Jennifer E. Lang of South Kingstown, Melanie E. Lang of Austin, TX, Andrea J. Lang of Westport, MA, and Katherine A. Lang of South Kingstown. She also leaves a granddaughter, Kaitlyn S. Lang-Ricci, whom she cherished, and a grandson, to be born in March, whose arrival she was anticipating joyfully. Diane was the daughter of Lucille (Blanchard) and Emile Courtemanche of Pascoag and of Everett J. and the late Rita Lang of Cranston. She was the sister in law of Alicia E. Lang of Middletown and Karen L. Fusaro, and her husband Michael of Greenville. Diane is also survived by countless nieces, nephews and cousins and by many close friends. A graduate of the Community College of Rhode Island's X-Ray Technician Program, she was employed at St. Joseph's and Fatima Hospitals as a CAT scan technician until her retirement. She had volunteered for many years with Hospice Care of Rhode Island and was often called upon to speak of her experiences with others interested in volunteering. She cared deeply for her patients and was generous with her strength and compassion. Diane was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Parish, and served a s a CCD instructor for several years. Diane was a talented potter and enjoyed teaching classes out of her home and her time with the South County Art Association. An avid gardener, she loved being outside with her flowers and working with her husband through every spring and summer to create the "perfect yard". She enjoyed cooking and especially looked forward to those Sundays that found her preparing dinner for all of her family. Diane was also an accomplished seamstress and knitter; her sweaters will continue to warm her family and small children all over New England. Diane and her husband were inseparable and she was happiest with him by her side. They traveled often over the years and she especially enjoyed their last trip, when they visited Egypt. She had an active lifestyle for many years and she and her husband could be found camping, skiing, and cycling with their children, or at the lake, where they gathered with extended family and Diane's parents for water skiing and fishing. Later she looked forward to polo matches and antiquing with her husband. Diane was proud of her marriage and her family and she felt blessed and fortunate to have found the love of her life in Greg. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Diane's life this weekend; Her funeral will be Saturday at 8:45am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Rd., Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Immaculate Conception Church, Oaklawn Ave., Cranston. Burial will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery. Visitation Friday 4-8pm . In lieu of flowers donations to Children's Hospital of Boston at Children's Hospital Trust, 1 Autumn Street, #731, Boston, MA 02215-5301 in Diane's honor will be greatly appreciated.
