

West Warwick Donald L Barkley, Jr., 65, of Patrick H. Quinn Drive, died Tuesday at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the beloved husband of Marie C. (Supino) Barkley. They were married for forty-three years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Donald L. and Louise A. (Kasparian) Barkley. Donald was a Detective with the Providence Police Department for twenty years, retiring in 1988. During his career, Donald was awarded numerous awards and citations for outstanding police work and contributions to the city of Providence. He was a member of the Providence Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge # 3, a former secretary, treasurer, and executive board member of the Retired Providence Police & Firefighters Association and also served on the City of Providence Retirement Board for several years. Donald served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. In addition to his wife Marie, he leaves three daughters, Christi Beneduce, Nicole L. Barkley Berry and Erica L. Barkley-Harris; six grandchildren, Michael, Joseph, Alissa, Shyan, Tyler and Caleb; and a great grandson, Owen DelloIacono. He was a brother of the late Donna L. Barkley-Aurelio and grandfather of the late Taylor Marie Barkley. The funeral will be held Saturday, at 9:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Funeral service at 11:00 am in Sts Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, 402 Broadway, Providence. Burial, with military honors, will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visiting hours Friday, 4 - 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Home & Hospice Care of RI 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 in his memory will be appreciated.
