He was a son of the late Domenic and Philomena (Gliottone) Pontarelli; father of Lori A. Pontarelli, Jane Sawall and her husband Erin, and Donald Pontarelli and his wife Kristine; brother of Edward C. Pontarelli; and grandfather of Jennifer, Domenic and Vincent. He also leaves his former wife Janice (Capaldi) Pontarelli.
Donald had worked at the John E. Fogarty Center and previously for the State of Rhode Island. He was also the former owner of The Hideaway Social Club.
Visitation and funeral will be held Saturday, 8:30-10:30 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, 25 Fourth Street, North Providence. Graveside burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hasbro Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box H, Providence, RI 02901-9979.
