Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Edward was the son of the late Edward Garabedian and Margaret (Courser) Garabedian-Svibergson.
Edward was a dedicated and compassionate pharmacist whose devotion and personal sacrifice allowed Chapel Pharmacy to remain in operation for decades after the passing of his parents, continuing to serve the Cumberland community long after many independent pharmacies had disappeared. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy, where he finished at the top of his class, Edward was a proud alumnus of LaSalle Academy and Blessed Sacrament School.
In addition to his professional dedication, Edward was a man of many talents. He approached every project with care, precision, and an unwavering commitment to excellence—truly a perfectionist of the highest order. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing tennis and racquetball and taking long walks at Bryant University. A lifelong lover of the ocean, his fondness for the beach began when he was just two years old.
Edward had a deep love for animals, especially his two cherished cats, Bradley and Murray. He also loved to share funny and heartfelt stories of growing up next door to his Uncle Tom and Aunt Agnes and his three cousins—Mary Fran, Joanne, and Tommy Farrell—memories he recounted often with warmth and laughter.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Deborah, his mother-in-law Mary Ann Kennedy of Kennebunk, ME; brothers-in-law Jim Zant of North Providence, RI; Peter Danzell and his partner Jo Ann Mathews of New Bedford, MA; Bill Danzell and his wife Lee of Hilton Head, SC; and several nieces and nephews who will carry his memory with love.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
Edward will be remembered for his sharp intellect, generous heart, and steadfast dedication to those he loved and served. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
