She was the beloved wife of the late Donald M. Byrne. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late James Earl and Violet (LaPorte) Quirk, Sr. She was a graduate of St. Patrick High School.
Eleanor was a devoted mother to Karen Corry and her husband William, and Michael Byrne and his wife Kathleen. She was the cherished grandmother of Michael, Daniel, Steven, and Jacqueline Byrne. Eleanor is also survived by her siblings Bernice Gallagher, Joan Selwyn, and Robert Quirk, Sr., and was predeceased by her siblings James Quirk, Raymond Quirk, John Quirk, Edward Quirk, Marie Jennings, Carol Sova, Norma Grossi, Marian Gormley, and Dorothy Dunphy.
Eleanor loved her family fiercely and will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and unwavering devotion.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 21, 2025, at 10:00 in St. Pius V Church, 240 Eaton Street, Providence. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
