Eugene Frank Kraus

Eugene F. Kraus, 89 (Ret. Lieut. PFD) a resident of Atria Bay Spring Village in Barrington, formerly of Providence, passed away on April 5, 2014 at home. He was the husband of the late Ruth M. (Wilbur) Kraus. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Joseph A. Sr., and Helen B. (Keller) Kraus. Eugene joined the Providence Fire Department as a fire fighter on October 15, 1951 and worked for 30 years, retiring on July 15, 1981 as a Lieutenant. He served his country proudly with the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Healy. He leaves a brother, Joseph A. Kraus, Jr., of North Providence; a sister, Patricia A. O’Rourke, of Riverside; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Carl S., A. Lawrence, and Richard E. Kraus, and Elsa M. Walsh, and Helen M. O’Rourke. Eugene’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at 8:30 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, in Saint Augustine Church, Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Interment with military honors will follow in Saint Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
