Francis "Chuck" M. Perna

Francis M. “Chuck” Perna, age 75, passed away on August 24, 2023 at the Matulaitis Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Patricia M. (Tartaglione) Perna to whom he was happily married for 41 years.

Born in Providence, son of the late Francis and Rose (Zompa) Perna, he was a longtime resident of Barrington and Providence, RI before moving to Danielson, CT.

He graduated from Barrington High School and the RI Municipal Police Academy and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from URI.

Francis worked as Police and Security at Brown University for many years leaving to work as the Assistant Director of Public Safety of Wheaton College in Norton, MA before returning to the Brown University Police and Security before retiring.

He was a member of the Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Brooklyn, CT and a former member of St. Joseph Church in Dayville, CT; Holy Ghost Church in Providence, RI; and St. Alexander Church in Warren, RI.

Francis was the proud father of Phillip J. Perna (Cheryl Raposo) of Henderson, NV; loving papa to Jeremy Joseph and Julianne Rose Perna of Henderson, NV; brother of Cindy Toolin of Barrington, RI and Michael Perna (Marcia) of Dedham, MA; and cherished uncle to several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews. He also leaves his Aunt Lucy and many cousins and dear friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Matulaitis Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center for being a little slice of Heaven on Earth during his illness.
