

George H. Dulong Sr, 94, passed away on December 29, 2015 in Florida. He was born in Chelsea, MA, to George G. and Bertha (Donovan) Dulong in 1921 but lived most of his life in Providence and Cranston, RI. He married his first wife, Alice R. (Fox) Dulong, in 1943 and served in the US Army in World War II in Europe, earning his honorable discharge in 1946. After his service, he worked various jobs with the US Rubber Company and other small companies before becoming a US Post Office employee in the late 1950's. "George the Mailman" was a well-recognized Mailman in Smith Hill and Mount Pleasant for over 25 years. He was a dedicated husband and father and together with Alice they raised four children. He is survived by sons George H. Jr. of Greenville, RI and Port Charlotte, FL, William F. of Cranston, RI and Punta Gorda, FL, Robert E. of Gilbert, AZ, and daughter Maureen E. Gaccione of Cape Coral, FL. He is also survived by his brother Norman Dulong and his sisters Dorothy Miale and Lillian Rachiele, all of Port Charlotte, FL. He also survived by nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife Alice (Fox) Dulong, his second wife Katherine (Calabro) Dulong, his parents George G. and Bertha (Donovan) Dulong and his brother William A (casualty in World War II). George leaves behind a legacy of living life to the fullest each and every day. His pleasant demeanor and wide smile provide great memories for all who knew him. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 11:00am at San Antonio Catholic Church, 24445 Rampart Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL. Also a Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 820 Providence Street, West Warwick, RI on June 22, 2016 at 10:00am burial to follow at Veterans Cemetery Exeter, RI.Donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice House, 919 N Arcadia Ave, Arcadia FL 34266.
