Gilbert L. Ethier

He was the husband of Catherine (Villella) Ethier for 63 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late David and Emily (Lang) Ethier.

He was the father of Karen M. Maurano and husband Steven of Cranston; Stephen M. Ethier and wife Linda Mayer of Glocester and the late Gilbert F. Ethier; grandfather of 6, great-grandfather of 3; brother of Walter, Raymond and Alvin Ethier and the late David (Lincoln) and Herbert Ethier.

Gil was a proud retiree and 27- year veteran of the Providence Police Department where he had attained the rank of Detective Sergeant. He also worked for the RI Attorney General’s Office and as security for the Jordanian Royal Family. He had served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Visitation will be held Monday, 4-7 p.m. with a funeral on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 700 Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
