

It was at the Newport Naval Base where she met the love of her life, the late Patrick J. Sheridan, where her story of love and family began and continued in their marriage for the next 67 years. A young woman of the Jewish faith and a young man of Irish Catholic faith overcame the obstacles of an interfaith marriage and created a beautiful family.
Gloria is fondly remembered by her family and everyone who knew her as a kind, generous, selfless, and humble woman. She saw the good in everyone. Gloria enjoyed being a homemaker and she was the essence of being a mother. Her love and devotion to her family was the most meaningful part of her life.
She always enjoyed and looked forward to spending time with them, especially visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia Whitman and her husband William, daughter Robin Rancourt and her husband George, and a son. She was the Nana to 6 grandchildren and Grammy to 6 great-grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Hyman and Sarah Schaffer, and sister of the late Stanley Schaffer.
