

Gloria Jean "Ya-Ya" Snell-Bailey, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 22, 2025, at the age of 77. She was the beloved wife of the late Alphonso Bailey. Born in Providence she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Mason ( Sowell ) Pope.
Gloria dedicated her life to caring for others. With a career in hospitality, nursing, cosmetology and community service that spanned decades, she touched countless lives with her compassion, strength, and unwavering generosity. Whether tending to patients, volunteering in her neighborhood or offering a listening ear, she lived by the belief that no act of kindness was ever too small. A true giver at heart, Gloria would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. Her warmth, laughter, and fierce love for her family will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Gloria is survived by her children April Snell, Curley Snell, Jr., Melissa Snell, Maria Snell, grandchildren, Dakota Snell, Corey Snell, Rashard Littlejohn, Trace Snell, Jurnee Snell, Great grandchildren Jadah Agosto and Jaylin Agosto. She also leaves her siblings, Riley Pope, Marcella Pope, Joseph Correia, Linwood Jones and Daniel Jones. Gloria was sister of the late Vincent "June" Pope, Donald Pope, Howard Pope, Walter Pope, Modena Graham, Movena Pope and Wendy Jones.
Visitation will be held Saturday May 3, 2025 from 9:30-11:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am in the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence, RI. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Providence.
