Helen A. Manson (Nan), peacefully passed away on Friday August 8th, 2025, surrounded by her family. She happily spent the last 5 years with her daughter and family in their home in Saunderstown, Rhode Island.
Helen was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 3, 1936. She met and married Mars Manson more than 40 years ago. Helen had many jobs over the years, but her favorite was as a WalMart Pharmacy Tech. She was a voracious reader, mostly of history and historical fiction. She ran, was elected, and served many rewarding years on the Berkeley Library Board in her hometown in the Chicago suburbs. Helen was a talented artist and enjoyed many mediums. She was a long time member of the Women of the Moose.
Most importantly, Helen was everyone's biggest fan. She prided herself on being a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, library trustee and….Always a Friend! We will miss her company, wit, common sense, humor, generosity, and enthusiasm for life. She never met a person she couldn’t engage in conversation for a few hours.
Preceding Helen in passing was husband Mars Manson, son Timothy Green, grandson Zachary Borschuk and niece Lisa Savio West. In a wonderful dream she had a month before passing, she said she was surrounded by family and Zack said he was waiting for her.
Helen is survived by her sister Eileen Savio (Tony), brother Bob Handforth (Winnie), son Gene Green (Nora), daughter Linda Borschuk (Rick), step-daughter Julie Manson, daughter-in-law Sandra Green, granddaughters Adrienne Borschuk (Alex), Laura Bendzick (Michael), Danielle Green (Timothy), grandson Sam Borschuk, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.
A private Ascension Ceremony, officiated by Kelly Doyle and Helen’s grandson Sam, will be held at Ananda in North Kingstown on Saturday, August 23rd at 3PM.
