

Johnston- Murphy, Henry R., 86, of Macera Farm Rd., Johnston passed away August 18th at Elmhurst Extended Care, in Providence. He was born in Manchester, NH, son of Henry P. and Elizabeth ( Sullivan ) Murphy. He was the husband of Jean (Collingham) Murphy for 47 years and the late Laura (Colucci) Murphy. He is survived by six children, Roslyn Kleffman, Richard, Melanie, Tod and Terry Murphy and Cynthia Townsend -Davignon. Henry graduated from LaSalle Academy in 1939 and Providence College in 1942, and during World War II was an officer at the Naval Research Lab. Henry was an engineer at Westinghouse Electric until he took over the family business, Murphy Caterers, which at one time ran Rhodes-on-the Pawtuxet. He is also survived by a sister, Mary McGunagle and was the brother of the late James J. Murphy. He had 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral and Visitation will be held on Saturday at 8:45am in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Rd, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am in St. Thomas Church, 65 Fruit Hill Ave, Providence. Burial will be private.
