Jacqueline M. Plante, 83, of Cumberland, RI, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 15, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Roger A. Plante, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage at the time of her passing.
Born in the Manville section of Lincoln, she was the daughter of the late Gerard and Blanche (Morrissette) Longpre.
Jackie served as Telecommunications Director for Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket for 25 years before retiring in 2004. She also worked at Renaissance Church in East Providence, where she and Roger were longtime members.
Jackie had a lifelong calling to serve others, demonstrated through her tireless efforts to feed and clothe the homeless. She cared deeply not only for their physical well-being, but more importantly, for their spiritual well-being. She led Bible studies for the homeless in her local community as well as virtual studies for people in far-away places such as South America and Japan. She partnered with Providence Rescue Mission and the Community Garden in South Providence. Jackie’s love for people was evident in how she lived her life.
Next to her love for her Savior, her love for her family shone most clearly in her passion for cooking and gathering everyone together for a family meal. She was an independent, strong woman who didn’t allow anything to stop her.
In addition to her husband, Roger, those left to cherish her memory include her two daughters: Denise Guarino (John) of Woonsocket and Diane Palazzini of Coventry; her four sons: David Thibault (Candie) of North Carolina, Denis Thibault (Cathy) of Millville, MA, Daniel Plante (Marta) of Woonsocket, and Damien Plante (Rebecca) of Johnston. She is also survived by her brothers Andy Longpre of Boise, ID, and Marcel Longpre of York, ME; and her three sisters Madeleine Betz of Seattle, WA, Lise Nickerson of Alna, ME, and Helene Longpre of North Kingstown. She was predeceased by her brothers Jacques and Paul Longpre. Jackie leaves behind 14 cherished grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, with another on the way.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Renaissance Church, 10 Tripps Lane, Riverside RI. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jackie’s memory may be made to Providence Rescue Mission, 627 Cranston St., Providence, RI 02907.
