

Janet L. (Bouchard) Brearley, age 69, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the beloved wife of Thomas Brearley, with whom she shared 45 beautiful years of marriage.
Born in Providence, Janet was the daughter of the late Arthur Bouchard Sr. and Stasia (Hertel) Bouchard.
A lifelong educator with a heart for service, she dedicated 39 years to the Warwick School System as a special education teacher. Janet was a fierce advocate for her students, ensuring they received every resource, opportunity, and moment of attention they deserved. Her commitment and compassion were widely recognized, and she was honored as Warwick School Teacher of the Year, a reflection of the passion she poured into her work and the lives she touched.
Janet had a smile that could light up a room and a personality that drew people in instantly. She was the kind of woman people fell in love with simply by knowing her; a kind, gentle, warm soul whose presence made life brighter. Her kindness was limitless and her love for others was something truly special.
Family was everything to Janet. She treasured time with her grandchildren, especially when building Legos together or enjoying sunny days at Spring Lake. She loved family gatherings, playing cards, crocheting, and any moment big or small shared with those she loved. Her devotion to her family was unwavering and she cherished every memory made together.
Besides her husband Thomas, she leaves behind her loving sons Patrick Brearley (Julia) and Ryan Brearley (Lenise); her cherished grandchildren Levi, Emily, Liam, and Luke; and her siblings Bob Bouchard (Joyce), Carol Ferry (Norman), and Kathy Kauffman (Glenn). She was predeceased by her brother Arthur Bouchard Jr. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who adored her dearly.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 4:00–7:00 p.m., and Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 9:00–10:30 a.m. at Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith St, Providence. A service will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
