

Jay R. Phillips, 78, of Warwick, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Kent Hospital. He was the husband of Theresa I. (Dessaint) Phillips. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Manuel and Olive (Vincent) Phillips. Jay served his country proudly with the United States Air Force during the Korean War.He worked as a laborer for 32 years prior to retiring in 1995. Jay was a member of the International Laborers Union, Local 271.Besides his wife, he leaves his son, John Rousseau, and his wife, Cathleen, of Cranston; two daughters, Marie T. Phillips, of Providence and Michelle A. Ritacco, of Warwick; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Linda S. Zuercher.His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:30 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road (Rt. 117) Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, in Saint Clement Church, 111 Long Street, Warwick. Interment with military honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
