Jean Elizabeth Butler

Jean E. ( McCarthy ) Butler, 76, of Providence, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Miriam Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Robert Michael Butler, Sr. ( Ret. Capt. PFD ). They were married for 46 years.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late William Howard and Mary Margaret ( Fitzpatrick ) McCarthy.

Jean leaves her three children, Robert M. Butler, Jr. ( Capt. PFD ), and his wife, Kristie of Cranston, Kevin M. Butler, and his wife, Tania, of Johnston, and Dawn M. Crothers, and her fiancé Derek Rusek of Smithfield; her six grandchildren, Gunnery Sgt. Elizabeth S. Goldizen, USMC and her husband Gunnery Sgt.Brett . USMC, Jared Kennedy, Robert M. Butler, III,( PFD ) and his fiancé Sharon Josh, Courtney Crothers and her fiancé Justin Stomberg, Mark Crothers, and Victoria Butler. Her sister’s Ann Barth of Warwick and Susan McCarthy of North Providence.

Jean was pre-deceased by her brother’s William McCarthy and Arthur McCarthy.

Family and friends may call Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 4:00-7:00pm followed by a Memorial Service at 7:00 pm, in the Russell J.
