Jean H. (McCauley) Charello, age 90, passed away peacefully July 31, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. Jean was a lifelong resident of North Providence. The daughter of the late David and Jennie (Lewers) McCauley and sister of the late James McCauley, David McCauley, and Kathryn Costa.
She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph Charello, ret. Chief of NPFD. She was the loving mother of the late Mark Stepanian; cherished grandmother of Holli Ashby and her spouse Todd; and doting great grandmother of Trevor Cosme. She also leaves behind numerous cherished nieces and nephews.
She cared deeply for her family, friends and neighbors. No matter what difficulty Jean was going through there was no complaining or wallowing in self-pity, her concern was always for others. She was loving, selfless and genuine.
Jean enjoyed travel, seeing a good show, reading and gardening. She loved a good joke, being out with the girls and big McCauley family parties (of which there were many). If you called and it seemed she didn’t want to talk with you, you were probably interrupting Jeopardy.
She was quick witted and loved to socialize making her a natural for bartending, which she did for many years at Larry’s Lounge. She later went on to work for the school department.
Jean was beautiful both inside and out and until we meet again, we will miss her and her stories “like the dickens”.
Her visitation will be held Monday, August 5, 2024 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. from the Pontarelli-Home, 971 Branch Ave, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to HopeHealth Hospice and Palliative Care, https://www.hopehealthco.org/
