John T. Black, 53, of Mishnock Road, died peacefully Wednesday at home surrounded by his family and friends. He was the beloved husband of Katheryn A. (Mizer) Black. They had been married for over twenty -six years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Edward and Louise (Avanzo) Black. John was a custodian for the Exeter / West Greenwich School Department for the last four years, and was previously a self-employed painter for many years. He enjoyed listening to Blue Grass Music, and loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Besides his wife Katheryn, he leaves a son, Kevin J. Mizer, and his wife Ashley, of West Warwick; four brothers, Edward, Robert, Ronald, and Richard Black; and two granddaughters, Candence J. Mizer and Jordan B. Mizer. He was the father of the late Nathan E. Black, and a brother of the late Francis, Kevin, and Linda Black and Cheryl Bang. The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, at 10:00 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rt.117) Warwick. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich. Visiting hours Friday, 4 - 8 pm.
