John J. Clarke

Cranston John J. Clarke, 78, of Harris Avenue, died Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the former husband of Diane J. (Castriotta) Clarke.Born in Providence, he was a son of the late William and Violet (Borsey) Clarke. John worked as a machinist for G-Tech Corporation for many years before retiring. He loved gardening, fishing, and was an avid cyclist. A frequent competitor in the Senior Olympics he was involved in several tri state marathons and rode his bike 25 miles three times a week. He leaves a daughter, Kimberly A. Branch, two brothers, Andrew and Robert Clarke, two sisters, Mary Hamilton, and Violet Theberge, and two grandchildren, Amanda C. and Adam R. Branch. He was a brother of the late William Clarke and Jean Bonner.The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at 12:00 noon, in the Hope Church, 88 Hathaway Road, Dartmouth, Massachusetts to which relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hasbro Childrens Hospital, 593 Eddy Street, Providence, RI 02903 in his memory will be appreciated.
