Born in Fall River, MA, he was the son of the late John A. and Rose (Rebecci) Ferrara of Warren.
John owned and operated J. A. Ferrara Construction for over 30 years.
John was a graduate of Warren High School in 1972. He attended Wellsley College in Boston. After college, John began his career as the Assistant Director of Environmental Services at St. Joseph's Hospital and was soon promoted to Director of Environmental Services of Newport Hospital, before beginning his career in construction.
John was the father of Eric Ferrara, Alyssa (Ferrara) Nickerson and her husband Joseph, Logan Ferrara and her companion Justin, and the late Lindsey Ferrara. He was the grandfather of Eric Ferrara Jr., Jaelyn Ferrara, Joseph Nickerson Jr., and Aliyah Nickerson. He was also the brother of Anthony Ferrara, Rose (Ferrara) Rocha, and Rebecca Ferrara.
