

He was the beloved husband of the late Sandra E. (Gallonio) Actis. Prior to that, he was the husband of the late Evelyn M. (Jones) Actis.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Guiseppe and Maria (Giacoppa) Actis and brother to Angela Ferrario, and the late John Actis and the late Lucille Vucci. Joe leaves behind two children, Pattie Ceci and her husband Mike, and Joseph Actis, as well as three stepchildren: the late Lisa Dahl, Rob Paci Jr. and
Christopher Paci. Joe proudly embraced the title of Grandpa to seven children as well as Great Grandpa to six.
Joe served in the United States Army. He was employed by the State of RI, Department of Transportation for twenty-five years; having retired in his early fifties, he enjoyed many years as a retiree. He and Sandra spent fifteen years in California which allowed them time to spend with Pattie and her family as well as explore the coast from San Diego to San Francisco. They could often be found at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, watching the horse races. Packing a picnic lunch and relaxing at the beach was a favorite pastime. In 2018, he and Sandra relocated to RI.
People who knew Joe fondly recall is love for homemade pizza, the ponies, the “numbers” he played each week, the Gene Valicenti talk radio show, his tomato plants, his “greens” (escarole, broccoli rabe) warmed in a pie plate, Scarborough Beach and red wine.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 244 Smith Street, Providence, followed by a burial in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Patrick Church
