

Joseph Izzi, Jr., 81, passed away November 29, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Barbara J. (Hamilton) Izzi. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Joseph Sr. and Elizabeth C. (Kinney) Izzi; and brother of the late John D. Izzi, Barbara Travers and Richard N. Izzi.
Joe was a production control planner at Brown & Sharpe, a production control planner and manager at Cumberland Engineering, and also an office manager and production control manager at A. M. Schaler, Inc. He was also the owner of B.J.’s Dairy Dip from 1980-1992. Joe was a graduate of LaSalle Academy, attended Our Lady of Providence Seminary, and was also a 1960 graduate of Johnson & Wales School of Business. He was an Army Corporal in the Adjutant General Corps serving in the First Calvary, stationed in Japan (Hokkaido and Sendai, 1954-1956) during the Korean Conflict. Joe wrote many letters that were published in the Providence Journal and was the author of “For Love of God and Country”-a view of his family and a look back at his ancestors. He was a very strong right to life advocate and when Joe believed something was right he always told it the way it was.
Visitation Tuesday, 4-7 p.m. with a funeral Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield, followed by graveside burial in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
