

Born in Anzano, Italy, a son of the late Angelo and Josephine (DePaola) Tarantino, he had been the husband of Anna “Nina” (Pelella) Tarantino for 57 years.
Dr. Tarantino had worked as an obstetrician and gynecologist for many years before retiring and was a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, as well as a member of the Rhode Island Medical Society.
Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Angelo Tarantino, Joann M. Tarantino, Paula J. Taylor and Doreen M. Tarantino; 6 grandchildren; and a sister, Columbia Statuto. He was also the brother of the late Pasquale and Florio Tarantino.
Visitation will be held Monday, 5-8 p.m. with a funeral service on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence, followed by entombment in Our Risen Christ Garden Mausoleum, St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Rhode Island Chapter, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
