Mrs. McGrath was a wonderful person.
Kind, thoughtful and fun to be around.
She will always be in our thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I  loved your mom she was such a nice person and always so kind to me.  I loved hanging out with Mary and being at her house instead of mine which was only across the street. I miss those days of all the fun and laughter we had,  and the crazy things we did. Your mom would just laugh along with us.  PS  I loved the sandwiches she always made us.  Mary you may not know this but your mom made a big impact on my life because of all the wonderfull things she would say to me.  I really do miss those days Mary .  With my Deepest Sympathy  to you and your family.  May your mom Rest In Peace  

Mary, Brendan and Tom ... I am so sorry for the loss of your mom. She quickly became a favorite of mine over at Scalabrini. She was so loved by the staff. She had the sweetest and most devoted, loving family and that says a lot about who she was as a mother before she came to Scalabrini. I was saddened to hear this news and know that I am thinking of you all <3

Yvonne and I are saddened to hear of Aunt Kay's passing. As she was the last of my aunts I can now safely say, without retribution, she was my favorite. She was person of great strength and boundless humor. While the holder of strong views on numerous topics we could always talk and argue in the most humorous way. Her laughter was infectious. I shall miss her. May she rest in the peace she so richly deserves.


Kathleen McGrath was a kind and thoughtful lady. We celebrated many holidays and special occasions with Kay, my brother Lenny, Mary and Kristina.
She was witty and fun to be with. Kathleen McGrath will be fondly remembered and missed by many people.
Our prayers are with the family. 

Deepest sympathy to the McGrath Family. I have fond memories of my visit to Providence many many years ago and how welcoming your parents were when we visited. She was a beautiful pleasant lady and we had such fun with them. May she rest in peace

Andy and myself are so sorry to hear of the passing of your beloved Mom, Aunt Kay. 
As a child my first memory of my Aunt Kay was seeing a black and white photo of her and I thought how elegant and sophisticated she looked!  When she visited us in Ireland and I met her for the first time she was so much more.  She was warm, generous, fun loving and a wealth of knowledge. 
Years later when, as a family, we moved to the US for a couple of years, knowing Aunt Kay and Uncle Leo would be there made it so much easier. They made us feel so welcome and our children seen them as their American grandparents. We treasure those memories of the times we spent in Rhode Island. 
She had such a presence in everyone’s life and she will be greatly missed.  

Sorry we cannot be with you, but we are thinking of you all and sending all our love at this sad time. 

May Aunt Kay’s gentle soul Rest In Peace


To all of Aunt Kay's family, I am so sorry for your loss and heartbreak at this sad time. As a child living in the States it was always a great excitement for us to head up to Aunt Kay's & Uncle Leo's house in Rhode Island. Their house was so warm, welcoming and familiar and always reminded me of home back here in Ireland. To me they were like our second set of grandparents.

As an adult I got to go back to the States a couple of times. On my first trip back, as per usual, Aunt Kay welcomed me into her home and put me up without any fuss. One of my abiding memories of that trip was spending hours in the back room of Kay's house chatting about everything from her life in Ireland and what it was like arriving in the US;  to current politics and past history. She struck me as someone who had an amazing breadth of knowledge with well informed opinions on all sorts of subjects which (like all of her siblings) she wasn’t afraid to share :) . She had a great sense of humor and was so easy to talk to.

My last trip back was 10 years ago at the tail end of our honeymoon. I had the privilege of introducing Aunt Kay to my new wife Carol and meeting up with my American family. Those few days are one of the highlights of our honeymoon, and despite only meeting her briefly, Aunt Kay made a lasting impression on Carol of a warm and gentle woman who was full of life. 

While we can’t be there with you physically at this difficult time, you are all with us in our thoughts and prayers.

I am Kathleen McGrath’s daughter Mary’s husband and Kathleen’s only son in law. Mary wrote a lovely detailed obituary for the passing of her mom with reference to those of her family left mourning her loss, but in so doing, inadvertently omitted my name. These things happen. The loss of one’s mother is a stressful experience, after all. But I am compelled to add a few thoughts here regarding her passing. 
    Kathleen McGrath's intelligence, limitless charm, kindness, generosity, and incredible sense of humor made her a total joy to be with at all times. I have always loved her and always will. Rest in peace, Dear.  I, and all those fortunate enough to have known you, have been greatly enriched by your presence in their lives. Thank you for that, Kathleen. I could never repay you for such things.

  Brendan, and the entire McGrath family, Please accept our deepest sympathy on the passing of you mother, grandmother, loved one. You are all in our thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time. May joyous memories of time spent together with your mother help get you through your grieving process. May your mother’s soul rest in eternal peace.
