Lawrence R. Petrosinelli “Larry Pet,” 92, of North Providence, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of Vincenza “Vinnie” (Centracchio) Petrosinelli for 68 years; and the son of the late Frederick and Adeline (Muccillo) Petrosinelli).
Larry entered the Signal Corp Division of the US Army at the age of 21 as a radio man. He spent 16 months in Korea, and because early on there was a ceasefire, he took the opportunity to attend cooking and baking classes. Larry excelled in these classes while in the Army and in the years following his honorable discharge. To this day, family and friends refer to him as the King of Onion Pizza, one of his specialties.
Upon his return from Korea, he apprenticed and later became a cabinet maker working for the L. Vaughn Lumber Company in Warwick for many years. He had a career change in 1974 after the building trades slowed down and entered the field of jewelry at Femic Incorporated in North Providence. Larry was later appointed one of the supervisors at their AAI (Foster Grant) Associates in Lincoln, Rhode Island.
Larry was an avid hobbyist who enjoyed fishing, oil painting, photography, musical instruments, and building/running model boats and trains. He was a CB radio operator known as the “Italian Indian.” Larry was a man of many talents who excelled in everything. He loved, was loved, and will be remembered always.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Doris Smith of Nevada. Although he was never blessed with his own children, he had many nieces and nephews. He also became known as “Uncle Larry” to all of the friends of his nieces and nephews. He shared many holidays and memories with not only his family, but also their friends.
Larry was predeceased by his siblings, Janice Peterson, Edith Crosby, Frederick “Red” and Raymond Petrosinelli.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 6, 2026, from 9:30-10:30 AM in the PONTARELLI-MARINO FUNERAL HOME, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Saint Ann Church, 280 Hawkins Street, Providence.
