Leona Ann Zienowicz

Leona Ann Zienowicz, 86 of Smithfield, passed away Friday, January 5 at the Village of Waterman Lake surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of Francis W. “Frank” Zienowicz (Ret. PPD), they were married for 65 years.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Leo F. and Louise (DeRousi) Kelly.

Leona received her Master’s degree at Rhode Island College. She worked as a Certified Occupational Health Nurse at The Anson Company, The Tupperware Company, and also worked at General Dynamics in Taunton, MA for 15 years before retirement. After her retirement she was the school nurse at St. Rocco School for several years. She was also proud to serve as a parish nurse at St. Thomas Church. Leona was a member and former vice President of her chapter of the Red Hat Society, she also enjoyed monthly celebrations of Zen-Opera. She was an avid reader and a member of several book clubs.

She was a loving and caring person who will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband, Frank, she leaves two sons, Paul F. Zienowicz (Sgt. PPD), Glenn M. Zienowicz and, two daughters, Kathleen M. Zienowicz – Rentrope and her husband Roger, Gail M. Zienowicz (Ret. Det, PPD) and her husband James Nolette, (Capt. ret. PPD), 9 grandchildren, Kimberly, James, Christopher, Matthew, Ashley, Nicholas, Sara, Vaughn, and Jordan, and 9 great grandchildren.

Leona is also survived by her sister Patricia Parker of Warwick and her late brother Raymond Kelly.

Leona’s funeral will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 9:45 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Thomas Church, 65 Fruit Hill Avenue, Providence. Interment will be held at a later date.

Family and friends may call Friday, January 12, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 pm.
