

Born in Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Luis Sanchez and Felicity Rodriguez.
Libertad was a hard worker, being employed at various places before she became affectionately known as the “Avon Lady” where she was a Sales Associate for Avon for many years before retiring. Libertad also loved to volunteer in the building she lived in for over 20 years, St Elizabeth Apartments working in the building store and helping with the food pantry distribution.
NO MATTER WHERE SHE WENT THERE’S WAS ALWAYS A FRIEND IN THE CROWD
She was the loving mother of Ramon Mercado, Marcos Mercado, William Mercado, Jose Mercado, Wanda Mercado, Edith Correa and the late Octavio Sanchez.
She is also survived by her daughters in laws Iris Gonzales, Waleska Diaz and Triffney Mercado and two sons in law Carlos Correa and Joseph Bradley. She was a grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother to many. Libertad had the gift of making all her family feel a mother’s love.
The family would like to take a moment to give thanks to her 2 CNA’s that also received that special love from her; Ima Gonzales and Amalia Vega.
Her visitation and funeral will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 9:00 AM in the ROMANO FUNERAL HOME, 627 Union Avenue, Providence followed by a service in the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Graveside burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery.
