Born in France, he was a son of the late Giuseppe and Theresa (Venditti) Proia; beloved husband of 66 years to Mary L. (Martino) Proia; devoted father of Ann M. Proia, Robert J. Proia and his wife Kelli; cherished grandfather of Laura Cropper and her husband David, Melissa Howe and Amanda Proia; brother of Nino Proia and the late Luigi Proia.
Livio was the owner and operator of the Pioneer Food Store on Admiral Street in Providence until 1969 and then worked for Armour & Company and the Near East Market before retiring.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, 4-7 p.m. with a funeral service on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in St. Pius V Church, 55 Elmhurst Avenue, Providence, followed by graveside burial in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Pius V Church.
