

Cranston Louis P. Bowen, 61, of Columbia Avenue, passed away Tuesday after a long illness at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Kathryn (Santos) Bowen. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Lewis W. and Catherine (Hall) Bowen. A graduate of Cranston East High School, Louie was a firefighter for the Cranston Fire Department before retiring. He was a member of the Retired Cranston Police and Firefighters Association and a member of the Cranston Firefighters Union, Local 1363. Louie was an accomplished golfer, who enjoyed his motorcycles, MGBs and horse racing. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Karlene C. Sprague and her husband, Mark Sprague, of Glen Mills, PA., a step-son, Gary K. Santos, of Johnston; a brother, Richard H. Bowen, (Retired Captain, Warwick Police Dept.) of Sanibel Island, FL; three sisters, Kathleen C. Gallogly and her husband, John Gallogly of Coventry, Doreen R. Bowen, Debra Fogarty-Weathers and her husband, Paul Weathers (Providence Fire Dept) all of Cranston, and many nieces and nephews. He was the former husband of the late Kathleen V. (DiSalvo) Bowen. The funeral will be held Saturday, at 8:45 a.m., from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rte. 117) Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Paul Church, One Saint Paul Place, Cranston. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Friday 4 - 8 pm.
