She was the heart and soul of a beautiful marriage with the late Albert E. Bicknell, Jr., sharing a lifetime of joy and memories.
Born to Robert E. and Audrey (Sullivan) Sherman in Providence on November 28, 1930, Lucy's life was a testament to love, dedication, and the enduring bonds of family.
Family was the essence of Lucy's world. She wove an unbreakable bond with her loved ones, especially cherished through the tradition of Sunday dinners. These gatherings were more than just meals; they were the threads that drew her family closer, creating a fabric of love and unity that defined her life. Lucy was the beloved matriarch to Robert Bicknell, Marjorie Smith, Jane Chase, Lauren Bicknell, Donna Santos, Shannon Massaroco, and the late James Bicknell, Debbie Campbell, and Betty Bicknell. Her legacy shines brightly in her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each embodying her spirit of kindness and resilience.
Lucy deeply valued her bond with her siblings, always making time to connect with them amidst the bustle of daily life. She is survived by her brother Frederick Sherman and is predeceased by her siblings Vera, Robert, Daniel, Morris and Charles Sherman, Ester Dione, and Lizzie Lyon. Her dedication to family was unwavering, underscoring her loving nature and the priority she placed on maintaining close familial relationships.
Prior to her well-deserved retirement, Lucy devoted her career to the honorable vocation of a home health aide, serving with unparalleled dignity and care. Her life's work reflected her immense heart and compassion, always putting the needs of others before her own.
Lucy's life was a symphony of love, laughter, and the simple pleasures that define a meaningful life. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, leaving a lasting imprint on the hearts of many.
A visitation to honor the remarkable life of Lucy (Sherman) Bicknell will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 5:00 PM at PONTARELLI-MARINO FUNERAL HOME, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, with a service to follow at 6:30 PM. This ceremony will honor Lucy's remarkable journey, the deep joy she spread, her lasting passions, and her remarkable legacy of kindness, generosity, and love.
Lucy’s spirit, characterized by an immense capacity for love and friendship, will be profoundly missed yet eternally treasured by all fortunate enough to have been touched by her grace.
