She was the wife of Richard J. Morel. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late David M. Sr. and Elizabeth A. (Ward) Hawley.
Lynda was the beloved and devoted mother of Amie Amaro and her husband Filipe, and Richard “Ricky” Morel Jr. and his wife Kristen; cherished grandmother of Liam and Amalia Amaro, Ava Morel, Alexis and Aiden Alves; loving sister of Elaine Desmarais (Paul), William Hawley (Elizabeth Costa), and Sean Hawley (Courtney). She also leaves several loving nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Elizabeth Robillard (Hawley), David Hawley Jr., and James Hawley.
Lynda grew up in East Providence, was a graduate of East Providence High School, and a true “Townie”. She was a hairdresser for many years and even after her retirement took pride in continuing to make people look and feel great. She had a typical Irish personality, stubborn, quick witted and fiesty. She was an avid motorcyclist alongside her husband and friends, she loved country music, and had a genuine sweet tooth; she was the Nana who always had candy and treats for her grandchildren. Lynda loved trips to the beach, especially Roy Carpenter's beach in Matunuck to spend time with family. Lynda never refused the opportunity to go shopping, and enjoyed “black friday” shopping trips with her daughter for many years.
Lynda had many devoted friends throughout her life, some of whom were there until the very end. Lynda's family are especially grateful for the love and support of her closest friend, Doris Conklin; her unwavering friendship brought them comfort during their most difficult moments.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, May 31st at 11am with a service to follow at 12 p.m. in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Burial is private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pawtucket Slaterettes, PO Box 3715, Pawtucket, RI 02861, in honor of her granddaughter and avid baseball player, Amalia.
