Manuel Metz Arndt, age 86, of Providence, passed away Monday, October 20, 2025, at Briarcliffe Gardens in Johnston. He was the loving husband of Margarita (Baer) Metz. Born in Santiago, Chile, he was a son of the late Guillermo and Hedi (Arndt) Metz.
Mr. Metz was an economist, working for the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington D.C. for many years before retiring.
A skilled and avid chess player, Manuel also enjoyed photography, woodworking, painting and playing tennis, but especially enjoyed time spent with his family.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three children, Ricardo Metz and his wife Jacqueline Scott of Northampton, MA, Guillermo Metz of Ithaca, NY and Tamara Metz and her husband Samuel Connolly of Providence; one brother, Gustavo Metz Arndt and his wife Beatrice of Santiago, Chile; and six grandchildren, Sam, Mia, Aidan and June Metz and Sebastian and Rachel Connolly.
Private arrangements are under the care of Sugarman-Sinai Memorial Chapel, Providence, RI.
