
Hackett, Margaret A., 92, of 1650 Douglas Ave. North Providence, a receptionist at the Providence Journal for 15 years before retiring in 1986 died on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the Hattie Ide Chaffee Home. She was the wife of the late John R. Hackett. She was the sister of the late Mary K. McCarthy and the late Helen E. McGarty. She is survived by her son John D. Hackett; daughter, Maureen A. Dastous, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren; her sister, Frances T. McCormack and four nieces. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Ellen (Kenneally)McCarthy. Mrs. Hackett worked for the Army Corps of Engineers at Fort Adams during World War II. She later worked for the Child Welfare Department. She was a communicant of St. Augustine's Church for 59 years where she was a former choir member and member of the Rosary and Altar Society. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 11:00 am in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence.
